Program Overview

The cannabis cultivation certificate program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the cannabis industry and the specific skills needed to succeed as a cannabis cultivator. The program is divided into four modules: Practical Quality Assurance Concepts for Cannabis, Growing Techniques, Plant Sanitation, and Processing, Packaging and Seed-to-Sale Software.

Working in cannabis cultivation, requires first an understanding of essential concepts related to quality assurance in cannabis production. Students will learn about Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality control, record keeping, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for cannabis production. Furthermore, students will also learn the importance of plant sanitation in cannabis cultivation such as best practices for cleaning equipment, tools, and surfaces, as well as develop sanitation programs for cultivation facilities, and the importance of environmental monitoring and control.

Cannabis cultivation and growing techniques will cover the biology, plant science and genetics of the cannabis plant, and cover key areas such as growing mediums, irrigation, fertilizers, lighting, temperature, humidity control, pest and disease management, and harvesting and post-harvest techniques.

Finally, students will learn the specific software used within cannabis production facilities, how to track the processing and packaging of cannabis product, labeling requirements, and receive hands-on experience utilizing seed-to-sale software for tracking and compliance in partnership with Ample Organics.

By the end of the program, students will have developed a comprehensive understanding of the cannabis edibles product development process, including the legal, regulatory, and business aspects of bringing a product to market. They will have gained hands-on experience in the creation of high-quality cannabis oil, utilizing different extraction techniques and controlling various factors that affect the quality and potency of the end product. Additionally, students will have learned about food safety requirements and quality management systems specific to edible cannabis producers, and the software used for tracking and compliance in partnership with Ample Organics.

By the end of this program, students will have a comprehensive understanding of best practices related to cannabis cultivation and the skills necessary to succeed as a cannabis cultivator. This course is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in the cannabis industry or those who are interested in operating a cannabis cultivation facility.
