What do Tolulope Adegbite, Sowmya Ramachandran, and Henry Vu have in common? Quite a bit, as it turns out. Each pursued pharmaceutical training at AAPS, driven by a passion for growth and excellence and an unwavering determination to overcome challenges in pursuit of their personal and professional goals.
While each journey is unique, their experiences highlight an important truth: bridging the gap between education and the pharmaceutical industry requires knowledge, hands-on experience, and a strong support system.
At AAPS, we offer education and the tools, opportunities, and guidance to turn academic learning into real-world success. Tolulope, Sowmya, and Henry’s stories prove how proper pharmaceutical training, paired with a personalized approach, can empower students to excel in the pharmaceutical world.
Tolulope Adegbite: Clinical Research Success
Tolulope Adegbite’s journey began with a passion for improving healthcare in her home country of Nigeria. After earning her Bachelor of Pharmacy, she sought further training to advance her career. “AAPS has a lot of programs that provide in-depth knowledge into any career that you choose,” Tolulope said, appreciating the instructors’ hands-on experience.
Adjusting to a new country was challenging, but Tolulope felt supported at AAPS. “The lecturers are not just respectful and polite, but they also exhibit an unwavering readiness to assist. They’re always available to clarify doubts, answer any questions, and address any queries that you have.”
Tolulope shared how AAPS’s Career Services helped her land a dream internship at the Canadian Hospital Specialties (CHS) medical device company. Tolulope now works full-time as a Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance Associate at CHS. “AAPS prepared me for the challenges and demands of the job, and I’m so grateful for that.”
Sowmya Ramachandran: The Power of Upskilling
Sowmya Ramachandran, a clinical pharmacist from India, felt her career had stagnated after two years in clinical research. “After working in clinical research for two years, I felt that my career was quite stagnating.”
Eager to upskill, she enrolled in AAPS’s Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance program. “The best part of AAPS is that the course was offered online so that I could study and complete the course from India.”
Sowmya moved to Canada in 2023, where AAPS’s Career Services Department helped her secure an internship within a month. Reflecting on her pharmaceutical training experience, she credits AAPS’s curriculum with helping her restart her clinical research career in Canada.
Henry Vu: From Pharmaceutical Training to Employment
Henry Vu completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto but needed hands-on experience. “I lacked the necessary experience needed to land a job in the pharmaceutical industry,” he explained. Enrolling in AAPS’s Clinical Research, Drug Safety, and Pharmacovigilance program filled that gap. “AAPS helped me bridge that gap in knowledge through courses that gave me a better understanding of clinical research and drug development.”
With the support of AAPS’s Career Services, Henry secured an internship at BioPharma Services and transitioned to a full-time role just months after graduating. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without their expertise.”
