The first in-class & online Medical Marijuana – Management, Quality and Laboratory Certificate Program approved by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Development, was launched by AAPS College on September 11th 2017.

AAPS College – Toronto, is this year celebrating 15 years as a technical College of Pharmaceutical, Food, Clinical, and Nutrition Health & Sports Science with the launch of the first Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Development-approved Medical Marijuana – Management, Quality and Laboratory Certificate Program, available both in-class and online, with our first group of enrolled students scheduled to graduate in January 2018. This new program adds to AAPS College’s current portfolio of more than 10 niche diploma and advanced level certificate programs.

AAPS College is offering this brand new program at the Toronto Campus, conveniently located on the TTC network, near to Don Mills station.

An In-Demand Field in Need of Trained Professionals

The new Medical Marijuana – Management, Quality and Laboratory Certificate Program is 16-weeks in duration and open to all students, including those without a scientific or business background.

“As of today, the labour market demand for staff who are technically trained in ACMPR – Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations has never been greater, with only 62 Licensed Producers approved for Canada and almost 1700 currently being processed by the government, the time has never been better to get involved. Cannabis, right now, is the 3rd largest economy sector of our country’s GDP by size,” says Laleh Bighash, Dean of AAPS College, as she discussed how AAPS College has historically been driven by legislative changes in the Pharmaceutical, Food, Clinical and now Medical Marijuana sectors.

A Program That Gets Students Job Ready – No Science or Business Background Needed!

This program, like others at AAPS College, will produce graduates who are job-ready for working in the cannabis industry – whether it be Production, Quality Control or Quality Assurance careers. This course includes an overview of the regulations, Quality Assurance concepts such as Good Production Practices (GPP), record keeping, managing recalls, and complaint handling.

Students also learn Quality Control and laboratory techniques including High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), wet and bench chemistry techniques, sanitation requirements, food processing, clinical research concepts, tissue culture, growing techniques and business management.

AAPS College has a track record of understanding the rigours, the regulations and industry expectations for this new and emerging market.
