Last week, a group of AAPS students performed an identification (ID) test on Acetaminophen drug substance with High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Acetaminophen – brand name Tylenol is over the counter drug that could treat headaches, muscle aches, arthritis and reduce fever. This experiment in our Quality Control (QC) laboratory provided students with hands-on experience preparing in standards, samples and mobile phase. Who doesn’t love Aspirin? It’s a common drug can treat pain, fevers and inflammation. In low doses, it can even prevent heart attacks, strokes and blood clotting. As a result, it is no surprise that many major pharmaceutical companies offer their own version of the drug. AAPS is happy to announce a new two-day training course on January 23rd and January 30th focusing on . Taught by Jason Chu, this course will discuss factors that must be considered when selecting an appropriate HPLC analytical method for food analyte determination. AAPS is excited to provide this specialized course as HPLC methods have become the preferred technique for food analysis in the industry. Participants will be provided with hands-on HPLC training in our Quality Control laboratory.
