ECG and Phlebotomy Training at AAPS

Demand for individuals with ECG and Phlebotomy training is quickly growing. We are happy to announce that come this fall, AAPS will be offering ECG and Phlebotomy training in the months of September and October. What is ECG? What is ECG? ECG stands for electrocardiogram. An ECG technician performs certain diagnostic tests to access the heart rhythm and rate. They utilize ECG machines to acquire a patient’s heart rate. AAPS Presents: HPLC School

AAPS has created a new training program designed to equip students with a fundamental understanding of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) techniques in only two weeks. This program, called HPLC School, launches on September 21, 2015 till October 2, 2015 and has been structured to provide students with real-world, tangible knowledge on a variety of HPLC related topics. Hear AAPS’ Dean of Scientific Affairs Speak at the Canadian Medical Marihuana Conference

On October 1st 2015, AAPS invites you to hear Dean of Scientific Affairs, Laleh Bighash, speak at the in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her presentation “How to Effectively Respond to Health Canada’s Request for More Information” will focus on how to appropriately respond to Health Canada’s “Request for More Information” letters, minimizing the costly delay of the approval process.  She will address common questions received, recent changes to MMPR regulations and will cover her experience working with Health Canada in the current approval process. AAPS Welcomes A New Faculty Member

AAPS is happy to announce the latest addition to our faculty, Mr. who will be teaching this term’s program. For over a decade, Dinesh has been working for Coca-Cola LTD, currently taking on the role of Regional Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Manager. His previous employment includes working as a Plant Supervisor for Lucerne Foods in Burnaby, British Columbia, a Manufacturing Chemist for Reena Enterprises in Toronto, Ontario and a Production Supervisor for Nada Dairy in Saudi Arabia. He is an active member of the Canadian Beverage Association as well as the American Society for Quality and has had previous involvement in the International.. Students Begin A New Semester

This week students at AAPS begin a new academic term. AAPS is excited to share what our students will be learning in upcoming weeks. The term marks the beginning for AAPS’ Introduction to Good Manufacturing Practices course where students will learn the history, rational and purpose behind GMP requirements. Students will be taught the importance of packaging, labeling, testing and control of pharmaceutical products. In our Laboratory series, students enrolled in AAPS Pharmaceutical Laboratory Testing course will be taught practical application of pharmaceutical analysis and techniques as well as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Students Discuss the Ethical Implications of Global Clinical Research for Pharmacovigilance

Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of a system that safely monitors the creation of pharmaceutical products is only part of the challenge a Clinical Research associate faces. Each country around the world encounters unique medical problems and chooses to respond to their health care needs in respective ways. Dean Laleh Bighash Speaks at the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Conference

On June 10, 2015 hundreds of attendees from all over Canada gathered for the second annual   Various representatives from licensed producers to testing labs, lawyers and lobbying experts were in attendance to discuss the Canadian cannabis industry. Students Learn HPLC Techniques

Last week, AAPS’  HPLC students visited our simulated QC laboratory to expand on their knowledge of content uniformity. Guided by their instructor Jason Chu, students demonstrated their ability to determine the variability of acetaminophen tablets. Using HPLC, students were able to separate and identify the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of their samples. Before applying the analytical technique, they first had to prepare the mobile phase and set up HPLC instruments. Once they completed their experiment, they were asked to process their findings using Empower, validated software, which allows the user to control chromatography instruments and process data for HPLC, UPLC and Gas Chromatography. Sanitation Program for Medical Marihuana

On June 5, 2015 AAPS hosted a Sanitation Program for Medical Marijuana Workshop. Led by AAPS’ Food Safety and Quality program coordinator, Pirouz Yousefian, the workshop was constructed to guide participants through Division 4 of the MMPR, Good Production Practices.
