The Quality Assurance for Cannabis Certificate Program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in cannabis quality assurance. The program is divided into 4 modules: Cannabis, Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, Practical Quality Assurance Concepts for Cannabis, Plant Sanitation, and Edibles Processing.
In the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations module, students will explore the legal and regulatory framework governing the production and sale of cannabis products in Canada. They will learn about the different laws and regulations that apply to cannabis production, including the Cannabis Act, the Food and Drug Regulations, and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.
Students will also learn about Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality control, record keeping, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for cannabis production. Furthermore, students will also learn the importance of plant sanitation in cannabis cultivation such as best practices for cleaning equipment, tools, and surfaces, as well as develop sanitation programs for cultivation facilities, and the importance of environmental monitoring and control. Students will learn about food safety requirements for edible cannabis producers, including how to develop the PCP plan required by regulations, and how to implement a HACCP plan to ensure even more control over the safety of the final product.
By the end of the program, students will have a deep understanding of the quality assurance requirements when producing and processing cannabis in a heavily regulated environment. They will have gained a deeper understanding of how to establish a Quality Management System, which includes an understanding Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality control, record keeping, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for cannabis production.
