FSW02 Food Safety and Sanitation Course

This course is focused on preventing food-borne illness within the health care institution. Topics covered include personal hygiene, factors of food-borne illness, safe food handling techniques, legislation, hazard awareness, safe work habits, fire hazards, and WHMIS.

The student will learn the safety procedures that minimize the risk of illness and injuries in the workplace. Explore food regulations, food safety and handling, contamination control, QA programs and safe working environments.

Safety and Sanitation is an essential skill of the Food Service Worker. It is important for a learner to understand the requirements of handling food and equipment in a safe manner that prevents contamination and foodborne illness. Topics in this course will include Personal Hygiene, Factors of Foodborne Illness, Safe Food Handling Techniques, Legislations, Hazard Awareness, Safe Work Habits, and WHMIS. Upon successful completion, the students will obtain Food Handler Training Certificate which is approved by Toronto Public Health and Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
